Under The Red Sky
(1990)

This page is part of a list of original releases by release date of international commercially-released regular stereo Dylan albums. They do not contain rarities or obscurities and are not eligible for the Searching For A Gem list. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. Promo releases of regular albums are now listed here and no longer in the former yearly Promo sections.

For releases of this album in CBS/Columbia multi-packs, see International Album Releases (Regular) - Multi-Packs.

Good As I Been To You
(1992)

If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to existing entries, please let me know! Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities - see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

Revised 26 April, 2019.

US release (3CDs/cassettes), Columbia C3K 47382 (CD), C3T 47382 (MC), 26 Mar 1991

The original UK 3CD 12" boxed set contained a rarity, R-0212, an edit of Series of Dreams (5:37) that has now been replaced on the current CD release by the full version (5:52). For this release, other rarities and promo releases see 1991.

A 5LP vinyl version was released in Europe only. The 1991 European cassette and vinyl releases had the full version of Series Of Dreams.

This very rare set was made in Holland for the Spanish market but very few copies were produced, the regular European release above was much more common in Spain. The Columbia logos on the rear and spine of the Dutch box have been covered by black CBS/Sony stickers. There was no front sticker. The records have red CBS/Sony labels and were also made in Holland.

"The Bootleg Series Vols. 1-3 [Rare and Unreleased] 1961-1991" - 5LP boxed set, Columbia/Sony Music 88985363341 (USA/Europe), 27 Jan 2017:

Columbia/Sony Music 88985363341 (USA/Europe) - front with sticker, picture from "Isis" magazine
Thanks to "Isis" magazine for news that the 5LP version of The Bootleg Series Vols. 1-3 will be available in 2017 for the first time on vinyl since 1991! It now comes in a slipcase, not a two piece box like the original 1991 release above. There is an LP-sized booklet which matches the five visible spines of the LPs. The records have white paper inner sleeves and USA-style Columbia labels. Although it has been reported that the records were pressed in France by MPO, Éamonn Ó Catháin says he cannot find "MPO" anywhere in the vinyl on any of the ten sides. "MPO" is MPO International, Averton, France - "Moularges et Plastiques de l'Ouest [Western Mouldings & Plastics]". Scans of the booklet and record labels required!

It is understood all the volumes of The Bootleg Series will now be reissued on vinyl with a common format of slipcase.

Thanks to Éamonn Ó Catháin for information.

Columbia C3K 65302 (USA) - front of slipcase, scan by Jack from Canada
This release comes in a double-width jewel case, with the original 12" booklets and record sleeves consolidated into a small booklet. Thanks to Ted Popma for reminding me that this and subsequent releases were remastered and have significantly better sound than the 1991 CD release. However, Éamonn Ó Catháin has noticed on the Steve Hoffman Forum that the 1997 remastering missed a vocal slip by Bob in Talking Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues in the line "have a picnic in my bathroom". This is corrected on the 1991 release but not on the 1997 release.

Thanks to Jack from Canada for scans.

This really is a boxed set! It comes in a blue wooden box with gold fittings and with a special certificate (shown on right). The box was made in the UK. Thanks to Carl Torstensson for pointing out that it does contain the booklet that is found in the LP releases, even though it can't be seen in these photos

This item is very rare and boxes which become available command a high price!

This set not only has an edited version of Series Of Dreams at 5:37 but also included a promo CD single 5 Tracks From The Bootleg Series Vols. 1-3, Columbia SAMPCD 1476, see 1991.

This set is the same as the US 2002 set with white CDs instead of black. Thanks also to Jarmo Palokallio for the information that this set is listed by Sony Finland as:

3CD: 5099750812426
slipcase
3CD: 5099748810021

Thanks to Roberto Bergadano for information about the release of this set from the Italian magazine "L'Espresso" in 2007. The most significant difference is that the booklet is translated into Italian, copyrighted "Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso 2007". They are also selling an edition of the DVD set No Direction Home, although I have no information as yet about any differences between that and the UK edition.

Thanks to Franck Faugere for information and scans.

This set comes in a double-width jewel case with a reduced booklet. It is dated 2010 on the rear insert and the CDs. The booklet contains all the text of previous releases, but only one photo, that of Bob lighting a cigarette somewhere in New York. The same picture is in the original long booklet on page 24. The alternate set uses the 1997 jewel case sized booklet front picture as the album front. About 200 were shipped before the error was discovered and the set re-released with the correct front photo. The booklet in the revised release has the same front picture as the front insert, so the passport picture is missing from this release.

Thanks to Arie de Reus and Riku Halinen for information and scans.
