This new page collects song performances from regular Dylan albums on VHS video and DVD included in films and TV series in 2000-04 (I'm ignoring any editing or talking over them). I would be grateful for any additional information on these items and other material to place here. Films are listed by date of original appearance (in theatres or on TV), not when the VHS video or DVD came out, often some years later. For the audio soundtrack albums on which these songs often also appear, see International Album Releases (Various Artists Compilations) 2000s. For films from this period with Dylan rarities, see VHS & DVD.
For a full Dylan filmography, see "Expecting Rain" or "TV Talkin'" . For informed discussion of all Bob's screen appearances, see C.P. Lee's well-received book "Like A Bullet Of Light ".
Any scans that aren't credited are from my own collection or www.amazon.com.
If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to existing entries, please let me know! Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities - see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

The Dylan contribution is 4th Time Around, the live version from The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert. Another Dylan song intended for inclusion was Bob's cover of Willie Nelson's Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground (R-0156), released in 1983 as a 7" single B-side (see 1983). This appeared on a promo CD single in 2000.
This film is a remake of the Spanish-language film "Abra Los Oyos [Open Your Eyes]" in which Penelope Cruz played the same role as she does here - there is, however, no Dylan song on that soundtrack.

International Album
Releases (Dylan-Only Compilations) 2000s. There is also a film soundtrack album on the UK Project label containing the film score with no Dylan music. Thanks to Jack from Canada for the information that this is because the Dylan songs on the soundtrack album don't actually appear in the film, just in the form of lyrics as sub-titles, although an actor appears throughout the film as "Dylan's ghost"! However, I am leaving this entry here for information. This film has no relationship to the 2003 US Film "Identity" above! As far as I know there are no US or UK DVD releases, but the Japanese releases do have English sub-titles. |

Thanks to Fred Muller for the following information about the Dylan content: "A series of stills of Dylan at Newport in 1965 (afternoon soundcheck with polka-dot shirt) is shown about halfway through the film, during an interview with Marshall Chess. The soundtrack has an excerpt of the live Newport recording of Maggie's Farm at that point. Immediately thereafter there's about 15 seconds of monochrome film of Dylan with the band members, presumably shortly after the show. It seems to be slowed down somewhat and Dylan holds a wine bottle to his left ear as the camera pans away from him." Thanks to Jack from Canada for scans.
