This page is part of a list of original releases by release
date of international commercially-released multi-packs of regular stereo Dylan albums.
These are listed here to save multiple entries on each album page. They do not contain rarities or obscurities and are not eligible for the Searching For A Gem
list. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included
on any other Internet site. I have not yet been informed of any multi-packs from
the 1960s.
These pages are still incomplete - if you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to
existing entries, please let me know!
Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities -
see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the
dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

"Bob Dylan 1978 UK Tour Press Pack" - Promo 5LP boxed set, CBS
(no catalogue number) (UK), 1978:
Box photo by Arie de Reus |
This promo set in a black heavy card box contains four original stereo albums
(one a double LP): Blonde On Blonde, Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits (UK
version), Nashville Skyline and Desire. For some reason Nashville
Skyline is the 1970s Dutch stereo release, but the others are UK releases. All are
listed in the Regular Album Releases pages and have 1970s style orange/yellow CBS labels.
Each rear sleeve has a gold promo stamp. |

The box also includes a compliments slip,
a book, two publicity photographs and three copies of articles about Bob Dylan. The
first is a press release about Bob's life up to playing Earls Court, London
(15-20 Jun 1978) and Blackbushe Aerodrome, Camberley, Surrey (15 Jul 1978), the
second is an interview from Melbourne newspaper "The Age", Mar 1978, and the
third is the "Playboy" interview from Mar 1978. The book is "Bob
Dylan: A Illustrated History" produced by Michael Gross.
Hello Alan, I have this '78 press pack and some further info about
it. Not earth shattering but I have one with instead of the single
greatest hits album included, it has the double greatest hits
album included. Technically making this a 5LP or 6LP box set issue
Information on this box set is very hard to find, I wondered how
many of these exist in total and curious about a ball park
valuation (I know you don't offer valuations normally but thought
it worth asking anyway). Not that I'm looking to sell but if I
ever traded it would be useful to know roughly.
Long ago I read that they were originally given to UK CBS execs or
sales people but naturally, I can't locate where I read that.
Probably in an early Telegraph, John Bauldie's magazine.
Hope that's of interest, Bruce Stephenson.
Thanks to Arie de Reus for information and pictures.

European location for CBS International from where countries without a CBS
pressing plant sourced their album. Anders Ydremark has a copy of Subterranean
Homesick Blues from this box that was made in Holland. The record of this
copy (a Dutch fifth release) has orange/yellow CBS labels and stamped matrix numbers: Side 1 - S-62515-1, Side 2- S 62515-B.

above the side number or Rams Horn Music to the right of the centre hole. Hans
Seegers has a copy bought at one of the Pavilion de Paris shows in Jul 1978 where
the record labels do not have the stars.

"Bob Dylan"/"The Times They Are A-Changin'" - promo
and commercial stereo vinyl 2LP
sets in gatefold sleeve, CBS 241056 (Australia), late 1970s:
CBS 241056
(Australia) - rear of gatefold sleeve with promo stamp, scan by
Hans Seegers |
This extremely collectable 2LP set in the "Two For The Price
Of One" series has Bob's first and third albums in a gatefold sleeve with
the rear sleeves on the inside of the gatefold. The promo copy has a gold
promo stamp on the rear of the sleeve. The promo records have white CBS
Records Australia promo labels, the commercial records have
orange/yellow 1970s-style CBS labels, each with the original separate catalogue
numbers. All the record labels shown have round the circumference at the
bottom the text "MADE IN AUSTRALIA BY A REGISTERED USER OF THE TRADE
MARKS" plus CBS copyright information. This is because up to 1977 all Australian records were
manufactured by the Australian Record Company (Pty) Ltd. (A.R.C.) on behalf
of CBS. A.R.C. changed its name to CBS Records Australia Limited, as on the
promo labels, on 17 Oct 1977. (Stuart Moore says that the label change may
not have occurred till late 1978 or early 1979, Bob Dylan At Budokan
from 1978 still does not have a CBS copyright nor does Masterpieces,
Slow Train Coming from 1979 does have the CBS copyright information.)
