This is a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released Various Artist stereo compilation albums released in 1989 that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only Bob Dylan performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. This page now includes promo-only Various Artist compilation albums and Radio Station Albums with Dylan tracks. The page is still incomplete - more entries required. Other International Albums and Compilations are now here:
There must be hundreds of these albums from round the world! If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to existing entries, please let me know! Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities - see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

The record has orange/yellow CBS record labels with the long copyright text at the bottom used after the Australian Record Company (Pty) Ltd. (A.R.C.), which used to manufacture and distribute records in Australia on behalf of CBS, changed its name to CBS Records Australia Limited on 17 Oct 1977. The album title is shown on the sleeve as "Rock Classics Of The '60s" and on the labels as "Rock Classics Of The 60's" - "'60s" is correct. Stuart Moore has a commercial copy which doesn't have the promo stamps on the rear sleeve and Side 1 label.

For the 1960s compilation in this series, see above.
Columbia CK 45048 (USA):
The US CD release has two CD variants, both with the same inserts. The first US CD variant has a textured surface; "1988" as the date of release at the bottom of the CD (certainly a mistake); two black concentric rings around the CD, and the text "Columbia [plus logo] are trademarks of CBS Inc." at the bottom is clearly visible. The second US CD variant now has a smooth surface; "1989" as the date of release at the bottom of the CD (now correct); three black concentric rings around the CD so that the text "Columbia [plus logo] are trademarks of CBS Inc." at the bottom is now hidden by the first ring.
Columbia House CVCK 45048 (Canada):
Peter Oudejans has a copy with the same Canadian inserts as Manuel's copy but the Columbia House CD is from the USA with catalogue number just CK 45048. The CD has "DISTRIBUTED BY COLUMBIA HOUSE" to the right of the centre hole and also has the upside down triangle logo used by Columbia US on LPs, cassettes and CDs from 1985. There must be copies of this Columbia House US CD with US inserts.

soundtrack album, LP: Elektra 60873-1 (USA/Australia); CD: Elektra 60873-2 (USA)/Elektra 960 873-2 (West Germany), 1989:
The album is a joint release by Elektra/Asylum/Aaron Russo Music Inc., which
I've abbreviated to just "Elektra" on the scan credits.
Bob's contribution was Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 from Blonde On Blonde on Side 2 of the LP.
The US LP shown is a promo copy with white Elektra US labels. There is a gold promo stamp on the rear sleeve. It comes in a generic Elektra paper inner sleeve. The front CD insert is a single card, the front of which is the same for both releases. The catalogue numbers are the only significant changes on the reverse of the front inserts and the rear insert, although the US CD has the title in a much lighter blue than the West German CD.
Thanks to Hans Seegers, Kenneth Robson and Bill Hester for information and scans.
Various Artists - "Tour Of Duty 4: Songs From The Television Soundtrack And The Era" - TV Series soundtrack album, LP: CBS 465808 1 (Australia), 1989; CD: CBS 465808 2 (Australia), 1989; Cassette: CBS 465808 4 (Australia), 1989:
Bob's contribution to this fourth compilation of songs used in this Australian TV series about the Vietnam War is Tears Of Rage by Bob Dylan and The Band from The Basement Tapes. The album also includes the hit cover of This Wheel's On Fire by Julie Driscoll and The Brian Auger Trinity.
The front insert of the CD release is a single card. The album title on the LP record labels, the CD rear insert (jewel box spines) and the CD is Tour Of Duty IV. Thanks also to Bill Hester for information that all four Tour Of Duty LPs are also available as Tour Of Duty: The Collection in a set which consists of the individual LPs in a clear plastic box with an insert. The set has the catalogue number CBS 465913 1 and was also made in Australia.
According to information found by Bill Hester, although all three seasons of this TV series are available on Columbia TriStar DVD, "for copyright reasons the VHS and DVD soundtracks of the majority of episodes were replaced with more generic music by lesser-known bands - a move which was widely protested by buyers, and resulted in a significantly lower sales volume for the third-season DVD set than for the first two". Also the title of the album infers that the song choice is not restricted to songs used in the TV series. Therefore it appears that the Dylan track is not on any of the DVDs and may not even have appeared in a broadcast episode.
Thanks to Hans Seegers, Bill Hester and Stuart Moore for information and scans.
Various Artists - "The Edge: Ultimate Rock CD" - compilation CD: CBS/WEA 465968 2 (Australia), 1989:
