This is a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released Various Artist stereo compilation albums released in 2023 that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only Bob Dylan performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. Promo-only Various Artist compilation albums with Dylan tracks are now included in this list. Other International Albums and Compilations are now here:

I suspect that the days of Various Artists Compilations are over, killed off by streaming playlists, and future releases will be few and far between. This page covering 2023 and 2024 will probably be the last yearly page in this list.

Bob's contribution to this UK 3LP set on white vinyl is Positively 4th Street, the 1965 single later released on Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits in 1967 in the USA but not until More Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits in 1971 in the UK, on Side 1 (Record 1, Side 1) plus Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds on Side 5 (Record 3, Side 1).

These Demon UK 4CD/6LP and 2LP CD and vinyl releases have new remixes by Nick Robbins of When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky from Empire Burlesque (on the 4CD/6LP sets only) and (Ain't Gonna Play) Sun City (The Last Remix) by Artists United Against Apartheid (on all three sets). Because these are rarities, more details are in 2023.

Bob's contribution to this very unexpected 4CD compilation is Knocking On Heaven's Door from Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid on CD3. It comes in a folded card sleeve and there is no vinyl equivalent

Columbia/Legacy 19658890932 (USA/Europe) - 27CD boxed set

This compilation of tracks from 1974 includes two tracks from the forthcoming 27CD set The 1974 Live Recordings by Bob Dylan and The Band. The design of the front sleeve and CD is based on that from Before The Flood. The Dylan tracks are:

The Times They Are A-Changin' by Bob solo from The Forum, Los Angeles, CA, 14 Feb 1974 (track 2).

Something There Is About You by Bob and The Band from Madison Square Gardens, New York, 30 Jan 1974 (track 12).

This issue includes an eight page article about the new 1974 release. On the rear of the magazine is an advert for the Bob Dylan Center, Tulsa, OK. Inside the front is an advert for the Rough and Rowdy Ways tour, UK, Nov 2024.

Christmas Compilations

Bob's album Christmas In The Heart appeared in 2009, and tracks from it have been selected for Christmas compilations ever since!

Compilations with Out of Copyright Tracks

Sony let the copyright to the 1962 releases of Bob Dylan and Bob's first single Mixed Up Confusion expire in 2012. This has led to many budget record labels releasing unauthorised editions of Bob Dylan or including tracks from the album on compilations without authorisation. These are now listed separately from the other Various Artists Compilations. Sony has of course rectified this situation by renewing the copyrights of the albums from The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan onwards, and with the limited edition 50th Anniversary Collection releases from 1962 onwards.
